Another year full of relaxed, modern weddings 🙂 My year started in New Zealand, with beautiful weddings in a vineyard outside Nelson, at the Hilton at Lake Taupo & on the beach in Ohawini Bay – way up in the north island of NZ. It was fantastic spending a few months in Aus & NZ, getting some sunshine & seeing family before heading back to Europe. Lots of intimate weddings & elopements this year (I love shooting intimate weddings!) like Edit & Andy’s Chelsea Town Hall elopement (with a 3hr couple shoot in all their favourite places around London), Leonie & Raffael’s intimate registry wedding at Islington Town Hall followed by a stroll through the backstreets to one of their favourite pubs for lunch & Pooja & Greg’s relaxed family celebration with a first look in Farringdon then a ceremony at Islington Town Hall & reception at Fredericks.
I shot weddings around the UK, a humanist woodland wedding at Wiveton Hall in Norfolk, a Poirot inspired country house party in Kent, a fun London wedding with a boat trip on the Elizabethan up the Thames to Trinity Buoy Wharf, a beautifully styled autumn city wedding at Hixter, an intimate Soho Farmhouse wedding and a stunning glass marquee wedding to name a few. I also travelled to a small town in Belgium for an amazing outdoor backyard wedding watched over by horses in the nearby fields and to Paris for a sunset & sunrise engagement shoot at the Louvre & Montmatre.
It’s been a busy year, I’ve loved documenting such amazing days for my couples and my work has been featured on London Bride, Green Wedding Shoes, Junebug Weddings, Rock My Wedding, Rock’N’Roll Bride, Huffington Post, Martha Stewart Weddings, Brides magazine and Together Journal – you can see all the features here. Thank you to all the wonderful couples who trusted me to photograph their wedding days, I have lots of features coming up on different wedding blogs but in the meantime I’ve selected a few images to share.
I’m so looking forward to 2018 & another year of beautiful weddings, if you’re planning your wedding & you like what you see then get in touch, I’d love to hear about your plans. Here are just a few of my favourite images from my 2017 weddings.
“Finding Gen was a pivotal moment for us. As soon as we saw her work we were hooked. On the day she was such a calming and unobtrusive presence, and her reportage style of photography really blew us away. It’s so unique and really captures our love of London as we wandered around Clerkenwell snapping away! Gen managed to capture the fun we experienced with our guests and the more intimate moments when it was just us. Needless to say the photos are beautiful and priceless. We are so grateful to Gen and highly recommend her.”
Annie & Phil – Islington Town Hall & The Easton
“We are thrilled with the photos; they tell the story of the day and there are so many little moments there that we would otherwise have forgotten. It’s a pleasure to see how happy all our friends and family look – the emotions in each photo come through so strongly. Miss Gen was lovely, calm, professional and hard-working on the day: as a softly spoken guide she made us feel at ease and aside from our couple’s portraits, we were honestly unaware of her being there!”
Claire & Frank – Burgh House, Hampstead & Prince Albert, Camden
“We have many favourite photos from the day. We had five different locations and there are many at each place which are special to us. From the colourful ones in Chelsea and Shoreditch to the more brutalist architecture of the Barbican centre to the more jokey ones in Elephant & Castle and finally the ones where we live with our cat, near the woods in Woolwich.
It was just so natural and easy to work with her from the morning till late afternoon when we all traveled together to the locations and it was a nice adventure. She’s not only the greatest wedding photographer she is a lovely person as well.“
Edit & Andy – London Elopement
“Miss Gen’s style fitted our day perfectly, relaxed and natural. None of the photos felt posed or fake, Gen was very unobtrusive which allowed us to be present while she captured the moments, it was an absolute pleasure working with Miss Gen and I’d recommend her in a heartbeat!”
Emma & Rob – New Zealand
“We couldn’t be happier with choosing Miss Gen. She has been lovely to work with from day one and throughout the whole process. The photographs she took on the day are exceptional. We love that not only does the collection capture the whole day perfectly, but each individual shot feels special in its own way. She has a charming & relaxed way of working with a special eye for detail.”
Louise & Oliver – Stoke Newington Town Hall & The Londesborough
